Consultancy mission to French Polynesia in Tahaa; site
selection, feasibility and local market study for DYNAVIC. Site selection,

Responsible for starting up and technical-production management
of the shrimp farm NARTIMA (140 has) owned by the Danish group ECPOMAR
located in El Morro, Guayas (Ecuador). Shrimp culture in hypersalinity

Studying the problems of growing shrimps (Litopenaeus
vannamei) in low salinity water.
Recommendations to improve the water management, the ponds

de PL/month) in Engabao (Ecuador).
Starting a maturation unit (1.500 breeders) for nauplius

Counselor of the belgian technical co-operation agency and of the non
gouvernemental organization Volens, employed by the Zamora Chinchipe Fishfarmes
Association - Ecuador. Extension and development of the rural aquaculture.
Supervision of fish culture mainly of tilapias (Oreochromis
sp.) and in a menor scale of Cachamas (Piaractus brachypomus, Colossoma
macropomum), Carps (Cyprino carpio) and Redclaws (Cherax
quadricarinatus) and of the management of a communitary aquafarm.
Average annual production of 9,5 T/ha.
Support to the administration and accounting organization
of the farm and for the creation of a saving and microcredits communitary
program.
Coordination of the agro-economic diagnostic of the project
influence zone in collaboration with the rural technologies center CATER
of the National University of Loja - - Ecuador.
Training and formation of the local staff.
Transfert of technology developed in the center to others
farmers organization in the province. Polyculture and integración
of aquaculture with poultry and pig farming.

Director of the project "creation of a fish-culture
center in Zamora Chinchipe" in El Pangui in the Ecuadorian RainforestAmazonie.
This ± 450.000 USD project financed by the General Administration
of Development Co-operation (Belgium) and the european organization Tilapia
Food Aid Organization with the purpose to promote the rural aquaculture
and to provide the local population with affordable animal protein.
Technical direction of the 5 Has fish farm building with
37 ponds (2,7 Has) and 3 buildings.
Responsible for the creation of the center.
In charge of training the local counterpart (70 families).
Introduction of analysis, planning and self-evaluation
based on the PIPO planning methodology (planning of interventions by
objectives).

Research work about the local species adaptation to intensive
fish farming ; Barbel (Barbus barbus), Gudgeon (Gobio gobio)
and red fish (Carassius carassius); reproduction induction (hormones,
photo-régulation...), larviculture, grow-out, feeding... (Dr.
Ch. Mélard).
Learning the tilapia culture technology for intensive
aquaculture, aplicated to a commercial fish station (S.A. Piscimeuse
of the Gabriel society). Production of monosex tilapia population (sexual
reversion).
